FreeAgent

Tidy, flat priced cloud accounting built around freelancers and contractors, with unlimited users, clients and projects on one plan.

FreeAgent takes a refreshingly simple approach to pricing: in the US it is one universal plan that includes unlimited users, clients, invoices and projects, so you never weigh seats against features. Built originally for freelancers and contractors, it does the day to day well, with time tracking, expense capture, bank feeds, sales tax reporting and tidy project views all included. For a service business that bills by time or project, it is easy to live in and pleasant to use. The limits are scope and reach. It is light on inventory, the integration library is smaller than the big platforms, much of its deepest tooling is tuned for the UK market it came from, and a paid Smart Capture add on covers unlimited receipt scanning.

The scorecard

Simplicity and fit lead, breadth is the trade.

FreeAgent scores high on ease of use, with flat pricing and a clear freelancer focus. Features and integrations are the soft spot: it is built around service work, so product businesses and heavy integrators will want a broader platform.
