DreamHost pricing

What DreamHost really costs tier by tier, and why renewals and email, not just the intro price, decide your bill.

DreamHost is an independent, WordPress recommended host with unlimited traffic and, unusually for a budget host, a month to month option alongside prepaid terms. The headline rate is the intro price, and the figures that matter are what you pay at renewal and whether email is included. Plans run from Shared Starter through Shared Unlimited to managed WordPress on DreamPress. There is no email on the cheapest tier. Below is each plan as published, then the things that move the number.

What moves the real bill

Renewals and email move the real bill.

DreamHost's headline rate is the intro price. A few things separate it from what you pay over time, so plan for them before you commit.

The renewal jump. Shared intro rates apply to your first term, then renew higher, near $10.99 a month for Shared Starter and $10.95 for Shared Unlimited. Budget for the renewal rather than the sticker price.
Email on Starter. Shared Starter does not include email hosting, so inboxes are a paid add on. Shared Unlimited includes email, which is why multi site owners who want inboxes often find it the better value despite the higher entry rate.
Term length and monthly billing. The lowest rates need an annual or longer term paid up front. DreamHost does offer month to month shared billing, unusual for a budget host, but it costs more per month than the prepaid annual rate.
The managed WordPress step. Moving from shared to DreamPress is a real jump, from about $3 to $14.99 a month, in exchange for managed WordPress, caching and daily backups. Size the plan to whether you actually need managed features.
Pricing questions

DreamHost pricing FAQ

How much does DreamHost cost per month?

Shared hosting starts at $2.89 a month for Shared Starter and $3.95 for Shared Unlimited on prepaid terms, while DreamPress managed WordPress starts at $14.99 a month billed annually. Pricing as of June 2026; check the vendor for current pricing.

Does DreamHost renew at a higher price?

Yes. The intro rates apply to your first term, then renew higher, near $10.99 a month for Shared Starter and $10.95 for Shared Unlimited. The renewal, not the intro price, is the figure to budget for over time.

Does DreamHost include email?

Shared Unlimited includes email hosting, but Shared Starter does not; on Starter, inboxes are a paid add on. If you want email included, Shared Unlimited is usually the better value despite the slightly higher entry price.

Does DreamHost offer monthly billing?

Yes. Unlike many budget hosts, DreamHost offers month to month shared billing alongside annual and longer terms. Monthly costs more per month, but it avoids a long prepaid commitment, and DreamHost backs plans with a long money back guarantee.
