DocuSign sells four electronic signature tiers: Personal, Standard, Business Pro and a custom Enhanced plan. The published prices are simple, but two things catch buyers out: every plan is metered in envelopes, and the most useful business features sit on the higher tiers. Below are the current prices, the envelope limits that matter most, and the line items that move your real cost.

What moves the real bill

Five things that move your DocuSign bill

The sticker price is per user, but the figure on your invoice depends on how many envelopes you send, how many seats you buy, and which features you need. These are the levers that matter.

→ Envelopes. Annual Standard and Business Pro plans include up to 100 envelopes per user a year. Monthly plans cap at 10 per user a month. Sends above your allowance are billed pay as you go per envelope, so heavy senders should pre purchase or move to a custom plan.
→ Seats. Pricing is per user. A five person team on Standard is five times the listed price, and unused seats still bill, so size your seat count to who actually sends.
→ Feature tier jumps. Payment collection, bulk send and web forms require Business Pro. If you only need those occasionally, weigh the jump from $25 to $40 per user against your usage.
→ Enterprise gates. SSO, organization management, HIPAA support through a BAA, advanced identity verification and FedRAMP authorization are only on the custom Enhanced plan, which is quoted by sales.
→ Add ons. SMS delivery of documents starts at about $0.40 per delivery and recipient ID verification at about $2.50 per attempt. These pay as you go fees sit on top of Standard and Business Pro plans.

Is there a free DocuSign plan?

No. DocuSign offers a free trial, but there is no permanent free tier. The cheapest paid plan is Personal at $10 a month billed annually, which covers one user and five envelopes a month.

What is an envelope?

An envelope is a single package sent for signature. It can hold several documents and several signers, but it counts as one envelope toward your allowance the moment it is sent, whether or not it is completed.

How many envelopes do I get?

Personal includes 5 envelopes a month. Standard and Business Pro annual plans include up to 100 envelopes per user a year; their monthly versions include up to 10 per user a month. Going over is billed per envelope on a pay as you go basis.

Does DocuSign support HIPAA?

HIPAA support through a business associate agreement is only available on the custom Enhanced plan, not on Personal, Standard or Business Pro. Confirm the BAA with DocuSign before sending protected health information.

How much do I save with annual billing?

DocuSign advertises up to 44 percent off when you pay annually versus monthly. Annual plans also raise the envelope allowance from 10 per user a month to 100 per user a year.
