Bluehost pricing

What Bluehost really costs tier by tier, and why the renewal rate, not the intro price, decides your bill.

Bluehost publishes four shared tiers, but the headline price is only the first term. The promotional rate needs a long prepaid commitment, usually 36 months, and the number that matters is what you pay when that term ends, because renewals roughly triple. Plans run from Basic through Choice Plus, Online Store and Pro, each adding sites, storage and extras like backups and a dedicated IP. There is no monthly billing on the lowest rates. Below is each plan as published, then the things that move the number.

What moves the real bill

The renewal rate, not the intro, sets the bill.

Four things tend to separate Bluehost's headline price from what you actually pay over time. Budget for these before you commit.

The renewal jump. Intro rates apply only to the first prepaid term and renew roughly two to three times higher, so the real cost is the renewal price, not the sticker. Basic renews near $8.99 a month.
Term length and prepayment. The lowest advertised rates require a 36 month term paid upfront. Shorter terms cost more per month, and there is no monthly billing at the cheapest rate.
Free extras that expire. The free domain covers the first year only, and domain privacy and daily backups are bundled on higher tiers or for a first year, then bill on renewal.
Add ons at checkout. Site backups, professional email, SEO tools and security upgrades are offered as paid add ons through checkout and the dashboard, adding to the base plan.
Pricing questions

Bluehost pricing FAQ

How much does Bluehost cost per month?

Intro rates are $2.95 for Basic, $5.45 for Choice Plus, $9.95 for Online Store and $13.95 for Pro per month on long prepaid terms. Renewals are higher, for example Basic renews near $8.99. Pricing as of June 2026; check the vendor for current pricing.

Why does Bluehost get more expensive after the first year?

Because the advertised price is an introductory rate tied to your first prepaid term. When that term ends, the plan renews at the standard rate, often two to three times the intro price. The renewal, not the sticker, is the real long term cost.

Is the Bluehost free domain really free?

It is free for the first year on 12 or 36 month plans. After that the domain renews at its standard registration price, so budget for the domain renewal alongside the hosting renewal. Verified June 2026; check the vendor for current pricing.

Which Bluehost plan is best value?

For most sites that want backups and privacy without overpaying, Choice Plus at $5.45 is the sweet spot. Basic suits a single simple site, Online Store fits WooCommerce, and Pro only pays off for busier sites that need extra resources.
